Sometimes a Poet. Always an Artist. Perpetually obsessed with the 1920s and 30s. Continually enthralled with literature, jazz and decent musical theater. Often seen with oil paint on arms and hands. Regularly dabbles in singing and writing music. Particularly fond of kindness, manners and old-fashionedness. Recurrently a walking thesaurus.

My resource for my daily 20s and 30s sayings come from a great book called “Flappers 2 Rappers” by Tom Dalzell.

Please leave the credit in my posts if you choose to reblog. I go to a lot of trouble finding the sources behind a work, and the source should rightfully be credited. I do not own any of the material I post, unless otherwise noted, and do not intend any copyright infringement.

Or are you just very busy with teaching art classes? Are you well? Is there another place where I can keep up with your work and life?

I am quite well, actually. It has been forever since I have posted. Mutiple computer crashes, broken (literally) computers, moving to another state, engagement, wedding planning, and having a baby have all lead to quite a bit of time between now and my last post. I do not currently have a computer than can store all the photos I would like, so posting again is a ways off. However, I do intend to come back. I am just on a life hiatus until such time as I have access to appropriate technology :-)

I miss you all greatly, and can’t thank you enough for your loyalty in my absence.

centuriespast:

What is your understanding of "transcendental modernism"?

Thank you so much! That question requires quite an extensive answer, and I unfortunately do not have the time to devote to answering it in the depth it deserves. However, the Transcendentalism I refer to in my blog name all at once references the Transcendentalism that became a cultural and spiritual movement in the mid 1800s, after the publication of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Nature” essay, and a poem I wrote,
